Synthetic Biology
Our "Engineering of biology" focuses mainly on three organisms:

Escherichia coli

Cupriavidus necator H16 (also known as Ralstonia eutropha H16)

Oleaginous yeasts
These organisms are utilized as biomanufacturing platform to transform industrial or agricultural waste into high value chemicals, e.g., bioplastics, fatty acid and derivatives etc. We are collaborating with researchers from Thailand, Malaysia and India to harness resources from the following waste streams:

Industrial by-products (e.g., glycerol);

Lignocellulosic materials;

Palm oil mill effluent (POME);

Sugarcane waste;
